Giovanni Antonio Canal

As a printmaker, Giovanni Antonio Canal was very passionate and put much emphasis on painterly values. He frequently reworked his plates and exposed them to multiple bites in order to achieve the intended atmospheric values. His entire printed oeuvre was executed between 1735 and 1746, the year of his departure to England.
