Luca Ciamberlano

active 1599–1641 in Rome and Urbino

The engraver and publisher Luca Ciamberlano is said to have studied under Francesco Villamena. Originally trained as a lawyer, he is known from 1599 as a printmaker. Ciamberlano became especially reputed for his reproductive engravings after Barocci, Alessandro Casolani, Guido Reni, Annibale and Agostino Carracci, and other masters of his time. He also created a small number of sheets after his own inventions, among them the present work from his early period.
