Adriaen van Ostade

1610–1685, Haarlem

Adriaen van Ostade was a painter and etcher of scenes of peasant life. He may have been apprenticed to Frans Hals and lived and worked in Haarlem his entire life. He was a very prolific artist who produced over eight hundred paintings and a couple of hundred drawings, watercolors and etchings.
